Aipa Surfboards Review January 4, 2023 – Tags: Aipa Surfboards
The Aipa Surfboards review! The Aipa story is one steeped in tradition beginning in the homeland of surfing Hawaii. Ben Aipa is the head shaper of Aipa surfboards & still surfs & shapes today. Having as much fun as ever.
Aipa Surfboards review –
The Aipa name is world class when it comes to surfboards. Pro surfers through to retired weekend warriors are having a ball on Aipa shapes. The Aipa models are new to Australia & Tradewind Surf. But we have had immediate interest & feedback almost as quickly. We know the construction is right as Aipa in Australia is manufactured by Surftech.
Fusion tech is what holds these boards together & we have been impressed with what we have seen so far. The Aipa Fusion Dual core Dark Twinn is a cracking shortboard. That looks as responsive as any shortboard on the market.
What about for the long boarders –
The shortboard sounds delightful. But what about the guys & girls who like a bit of length. We have the exact thing for you! The Aipa Fusion Big Brother Sting is what you are after.
Feedback from our early riders are saying it is very responsive for a board with such volume. It has a large hip high up on the board, which goes into a swallow tail. Giving the illusion of a responsive board much smaller than it is. The volume up the front makes it feel like the big board it is & helps you paddle rings around the lineup.
Summary –
While a very old brand. The Aipa movement is new to Australia. Backed by Surftech though, we expect great things, with there knowledge in construction. Expect the offering to grow in coming years. Contact us on 0488 775 483 or follow our socials to find out more.

I have an Aipa Hitman (swallow tail) in Varial Surf technology. Amazing board. Paddles and generates speed like a groveler — easy, stable, and fun. However, once you find a section you want to hit, it’ll go vertical with ease and you can hook it in the pocket. The foil is a little fuller so it can feel chunkier than you’re used to, however, the sharp edge on the tail combo with the down rail design and deep V out the tail makes it easier to get on rail when it counts. Probably the first and only small-wave board (1-3ft) I have ever surfed that feels like it fit like a glove.
